Colts vs Ravens Odds, Analysis and Prediction for Week 3

Colts vs Ravens Odds, Analysis and Prediction for Week 3

The Baltimore Ravens saw J.K. Dobbins go down in Week 1 with a season-ending injury, so it made sense that the team would add some depth to their running back room. Gus Edwards is next up on the depth chart, but the team still went out and added Kenyan Drake to the practice squad. He played with Baltimore in 2022 and was useful as the fourth-string tailback. Justice Hill, Melvin Gordon, and Edwards ran well in Dobbins’ absence in Week 2, but Hill’s injury against the Bengals means that Drake may have to dress for this week’s contest with the Indianapolis Colts – who may not have starting quarterback Anthony Richardson as he remains in the concussion protocol. Let’s break down the NFL betting insights for this AFC showdown between Colts vs Ravens.

Why should you bet on the Indianapolis Colts?

The Colts got their first win of 2023 when they beat Houston, 31-20, down in Texas. Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson had touchdown runs of 18 and 15 yards before having to leave with a concussion, and Gardner Minshew came on to throw a touchdown pass and pick up 171 yards through the air. That pass staked the Colts to an 18-point lead, and even though they only would score one more field goal after that, they held on for the convincing win, ending an eight-game losing streak that extends back into the 2022 season.

The Colts’ defense sacked C.J. Stroud six times last week, but there were times when the rookie quarterback was able to slice and dice the Indy secondary; he went 30 of 47 for 384 yards and a pair of touchdowns. So far in 2023, the Colts are ranked tenth in scoring at 26 points per game, a significant increase from the 17 points they averaged last season. The defense allows 25.5 points per game, ranking 19th, and some more stops would definitely help against a team like Baltimore. We don’t know yet if Richardson will be able to clear the concussion protocol in time for Sunday’s game.

Why should you put your money on the Baltimore Ravens?

The Ravens enter this week with a 2-0 record after holding on to beat the Bengals in Cincinnati last week, 27-24. Lamar Jackson threw for 237 yards with a pair of touchdown passes and ran for 54 more yards. The Ravens led, 13-10, at halftime, and it was the running game that drove the day, picking up 178 total yards. Nelson Agholor was the top Raven receiver with five catches for 63 yards and a score.

On defense, the Ravens were able to bottle up Joe Burrow just enough to get the victory; Burrow went 27 of 41 yards for 222 yards with a pair of scores – but he also aggravated a calf injury. The unit ranks seventh in the NFL, permitting 275 yards per game, an improvement from the 319.3 they permitted in 2022. They are seventh in scoring defense, allowing 16.5 points per game.

Colts vs Ravens Final Score and Prediction

The Ravens aren’t just 2-0 straight up; they are 2-0 against the spread after beating Houston by 16 points at home in Week 1. The Colts have failed to cover in six of their last nine road games – and one of those games they did cover came against a dreadful Houston team last week. With or without Anthony Richardson, this will be a long day for the Colts. I predict a final score of Baltimore 27, Indianapolis 13.
