NASCAR YellaWood 500 Odds and Betting Picks

NASCAR Cup Series Odds: William Byron snagged a spot in the Round of 8 for himself last week at Texas Motor Speedway, moving into the lead after a restart with six laps left in the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400. His win made an even 300 victories for Hendrick Motorsports, the most in the history of NASCAR for any Cup Series team, and it made six wins this year for Byron, a personal best and the most wins for any Cup Series driver this year. He ended up beating Ross Chastain by 1.863 seconds. Those last six laps of the race were the only ones he led as he zipped ahead of Bubba Wallace, who had led a career-best 111 laps before that restart. This week, the Round of 12 continues in Talladega, Alabama, with the YellaWood 500, set for Sunday afternoon. The race starts at 2:00 pm Eastern time, and you can watch every lap on NBC or listen on Motor Racing Network or SiriusXM.

NASCAR Cup Series Odds | YellaWood 500 Race Lines

Chris Buescher won the summer race at Daytona and has put together elite metrics at the plate tracks (Talladega and Daytona) since 2017, earning top-ten fantasy points rankings in 12 of the 25 superspeedway races.

Denny Hamlin seems to have things lining up for him to win the Cup Series Championship at long last. He is one of the best plate racers of all time, and Talladega would be a terrific place for him to make his latest statement.

Ty Dillon has finished in the top ten in fantasy points in nine of his 21 races on superspeedways. He has a way of getting through the chaos and emerging from wrecks unscathed. His primary obstacle is his equipment, as his team doesn’t have the same quality of car as some others.

Erik Jones has cracked the top ten in six of the last seven races at Talladega, making him an interesting value pick.

Joey Logano won the spring race on the Atlanta superspeedway, and he has absolutely nothing to lose as he is out of the Round of 12. He has a reputation of pushing hard at the end, even if that means doing some damage, so expect some aggressiveness (perhaps driven by frustration) from Logano here.

Ryan Blaney is chipping away at Hamlin’s hammerlock on superspeedways. Chase Elliott has eight top-15 finishes in his last 10 races at superspeedways, including wins at both Atlanta and Talladega. Bubba Wallace has 10 top-15 finishes in the last 13 races at Daytona, but just two top-15 finishes in 11 races at Talladega (including a win in a race shortened by rain). So for those of us who think Talladega and Daytona are so similar, this might be a corrective. Kyle Busch won at Talladega in the spring and came in third in the spring of 2022. At Atlanta, he came in fifth and tenth, and he took third in the summer Daytona race.
