One of the biggest questions entering the 2023 college football season is whether or not the Alabama Crimson Tide is ready to return to the top of the sport. These issues have led to losses against the likes of LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Georgia. They are no longer elite at getting stops, and they also struggle to extend drives. On defense, Michigan might not have either of their starting safeties, and the Pirates have Mason Garcia, a one-time four-star recruit, at quarterback. TCU lost a ton of players to graduation and the NFL after last year’s unlikely run to the national championship game, and we’ve seen two numbers shift since this line opened: TCU was favored by 21 ½ points, and that line has contracted by a point. The initial point total was 59 ½ and has jumped up. TCU’s defense was opportunistic but not shutdown last year, and we really have no idea what Colorado’s defense will do. The front seven on defense will also be a problem for Florida State. The Seminoles return quarterback Jordan Travis and edge rusher Jared Verse and are favorites to win the ACC. This point total has dropped from 58 ½ points to 56.
