Running over UConn by 56 points last week brought the Tennessee Volunteers up four spots in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings. The Volunteers jumped over Missouri and LSU to become the fourth-highest ranked SEC team on the list. Their next game is a visit to Missouri, coming home after losing by nine points to Georgia in Athens last week. This game between Tennessee vs Missouri and the next one, when Georgia comes to town, will have a lot to do with the Volunteers’ finish in the SEC. Can the Volunteers beat Missouri and keep the pressure on Georgia? Read on to get our NCAAF betting prediction.

Why should you bet on the #13 Tennessee Volunteers?
Since losing to Alabama, the Volunteers have a two-game winning streak and look for their sixth win in seven games. Their offense has been prolific, putting up 34.8 points and gaining 456.5 yards per game. Joe Milton III posted a 79% pass completion rate for 254 yards and a pair of scores in the win over the Huskies. Jaylen Wright carried the ball eight times for 113 yards and a score, and Squirrel White caught two passes for 94 yards and a score.
The Volunteers’ defense has been stingy, permitting just 18.4 points per game. That average went down even further when Tennessee limited UConn to 3 points last week. An issue for Vols fans is that they are just 1-2 in true road games this season, failing to hit at least 20 points in two of those three games. Tennessee’s rushing offense ranks third among FBS programs – but Missouri’s run defense is also elite.

Why should you put your money on the #14 Missouri Tigers?
Missouri has matched the Volunteers with their records as both teams sit at 7-2 (3-2 SEC). Their offense has also clicked, putting up 32.4 yards per game. They struggled in the loss to Georgia as Brady Cook only completed 47 percent of his passes. He threw for 212 yards and a score, but he also had two picks. Cody Schrader had an impressive day on the ground, carrying the ball 22 times for 112 yards and a score. Theo Wease Jr was the top receiver with five receptions for 90 yards.
The Tigers’ defense has been more generous than has the Volunteers’ as they permit 24 points per game. They permitted 30 points against Georgia, but coming home should bring them some motivation. In their last three games, the Missouri defense has averaged over four sacks per game, and each of their last three opponents has failed to break the 200-passing yard barrier. It’s hard to figure out why the Volunteers are a road favorite here; the history of the two programs looks to be a factor that pushes this line out of balance.

Tennessee vs Missouri Final Score and Prediction
Missouri’s run defense matches up well with Tennessee’s offense, and their secondary and pass rush should be able to limit the damage that Milton can do. Missouri hung with Georgia for a half before fading, but they still only lost by nine points. I like Missouri not just to cover but to win, 30-27.
